I Miss Reading

I love a good book, especially one that is all consuming, can’t-put-it-down good. At one point pre-baby, I was actually in three book clubs at once – yes, THREE! How I managed to read 2-3 books in a months time, I will never know. Sadly, since I welcomed my daughter over a year and a half ago, I think I’ve read a total of 5 books and most of which were parenting related. My time is stretched so thin these days that reading for fun has really taken a back seat to everything else.

It’s officially time to turn back the clock {all wrinkles are welcome to go as well} and reintroduce reading into my daily {or weekly} life. Why is this so important to me? Because there are some days as a stay at home mom that I need a distraction, an escape into a different world – even if it’s 10 pages at a time.

My latest book, The Good Girl, is filling the void marvelously. Coined as “Gone Girl, but with heart”, The Good Girl is a real page turner, so much so that I’ve been neglecting a lot of things – laundry, cleaning, etc. čÖé I read Gone Girl while on my baby-moon in Turks & Caicos and I was so creeped out that I hardly slept – but I couldn’t put the book down. Afterwards, I read two additional books by Gillian Flynn, Sharp Objects and Dark Places – even┬áscarier than Gone Girl. Gillian Flynn is a fantastic writer, but she really brings the creeps.┬á

On a month to month basis, I’m going to focus a bit more on what I’m reading. Have you read any of the books I mentioned above? Let me know in the comments section below – I’d love to hear some recommendations! Also – I’ll provide a full update on The Good Girl once I finish :).
